The BMW 1-Series sold in India will be powered by 2 liter diesel engine that will produce 143 Bhp and 320 Nm torque. The diesel powered car can achieve a top speed of 212 km/h. The diesel engined 1-Series will be tagged as 118d and will return 20.58 Kmpl whereas the petrol engined 1-Series will be called the 116i, and will feature a 1.6 liter turbo petrol engine, which we already saw in the Mini cooper S. The petrol engine will produce 136 Bhp of peak power and 220 Nm of torque, and will return fuel economy of 16.28 Kmpl. Both these engines are mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission. BMW 1 series is the only car with a rear wheel drive architecture in its class. Like all BMW cars, the all-new BMW 1 Series has 50:50 axle load distribution to allow greater driving agility with neutral self-steering properties.
